Many adolescents, especially those with learning or emotional difficulties, have not yet developed the ability to process information verbally and apply it to their lives. They may struggle with connecting cause and effect. These connections are best made through experience. Adventure wilderness therapy offers the opportunity for ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and Nonverbal Learning Disorder students to learn firsthand from their own experiences; this is crucial to healthy adolescent development.
